Favorite Covers - March Solicits

DC, Marvel, Image and Dark Horse have released their March solicits. Full lists can be found at Comic Book Resources here, here, here and here.

My favorites:

This is the first of two Del Mundo covers in my favorites. Awesome design that gives you something to look at in in every spot. Nice colors, too.

 Cover by MATTEO DE LONGIS
It's just an odd image. I like it.

Cover by LOST FISH
Love this technique. Very tight rendering/painting style and very unique.

Cover by MARK BROOKS
There are no bad Mark Brooks covers. He comes up with fantastic, dynamic imagery and his women are beautiful.

Cover by BRANDON PETERSON
Brandon Peterson is killing it lately. He's always been great, but his recent covers are fantastic. So much texture detail, and his photoshop effects are really cool.

Cover by DAVE JOHNSON
Dave Johnson is one of the best graphic cover designers in the industry. His layouts amaze me, and he never seems to lack originality. Every design is fresh and story specific.

The second Del Mundo cover on my list. He may be knocking on Dave Johnson's door with the design skills. This cover is wonderfully detailed but holds together as full design. Great font work, too.

Cover by ALEX MALEEV
Maleev's work has always been of interest, and his technique is a definite eye-catcher, especially anything involving Spider Woman. This is a great composition, too.

Cover by ALINA URUSOV
Love this photoshop technique. X-23's clothes look real. Nice mood setting also.

I like how this could be the cover of a Stephen King prose novel. It's a very clever solution.

Cover by Yunosuke Yoshinaga?
Little help with the cover credit? I couldn't find the cover artist credit anywhere, so for now I'm going with the writer and artist of the book. I'm not familiar with most manga artists, but I loved the natural, effortless perspective here. Masterful.

Cover by LEE BERMEJO
Another cover that could be put on a novel. This is a great layout and the typesetting completes it perfectly.

Cover by JOAO RUAS
Light, dreamy. A well-rendered soft touch.

Cover by ESAO ANDREWS
This image just plain creeped me out the moment I saw it. I knew then it was going on the list.

Cover by ALEX ROSS
What amazes me about Alex Ross is how he can still come up with dynamic, original layouts that involve heroes flying. Hasn't he done a half of million of those now? And they're still looking awesome!

I like this cover just because I can't figure out this cover. It's just weird, man. But I love it.

Cover by GEORGE PÉREZ
It's George Pérez. And though he's probably drawn all of these characters many times, there are a few here of which I've never seen his renditions.

This looks like a pulp cover, and I love pulp covers. This treatment immediately made me want to read the paperback. I've looked over his other covers for this series and they're all great.

Cover by AMANDA CONNER
There's Neal Adams' Batman. There's Curt Swan's Superman. And there's Amanda Conner's Power Girl.  Amanda has defined this character, and her covers for the book are always a blast.

Cover by JOCK
I need to get more acquainted with the rest of Jock's work, because I love his covers. Great design.

Who illustrated this? No credit given. Is it old or new? No matter, it's awesome.

And this month's most favorite . . .

Cover by GARY FRANK
It probably has to do with my fondness for She-Hulk as a character, but I this illustration has a lot of life in it. Love the facial expression. Is Gary Frank jumping back to Marvel?

That's it! Thanks to all the artists whose talents never cease to amaze!
